Akong Rinpoche talks to students

Here are some comments made by Rokpa President Akong Rinpoche when he visited schools last year.

If you have a good education no-one can steal it. It is in your mind and safe from thieves. You can’t be good at everything but to be good at one thing is very useful.
The whole world’s duty is to protect the environment, to clean it up. Don’t leave garbage lying around, there is a place for it.
Your own language and dialect is very important, so protect your own culture.
To student teachers in Tibet he said: “If you have a good heart, whatever you teach, students will learn, but if you have a bad heart whatever you teach, they will not learn.
Some parents may make mistakes but no matter what, you must obey your parents. The most important is; your own behaviour should be loving-kindness and compassion. You must always think of helping others. Don’t do harm to others. Don’t learn bad habits. Don’t forget to help others.

Dates for your diary:

Festival at Rheged in Cumbria: Buddhist Himalaya, Autumn Half Term: Saturday 20th to Wednesday 24th October 2007.

See this website for more details, nearer the time.
