ROKPA UK & OVERSEAS
supports over 120 projects in
ROKPA - meaning 'help' in Tibetan - is an international charity, helping communities in need in Tibetan areas of China, Nepal, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Europe and the UK.
Non-political, it works to relieve hunger and poverty and supports education, health care, cultural and environmental projects.
We aim to help all who need it, but focus particularly on:
- Orphans and children from the poorest families
- Those with HIV and other chronic diseases
- Families with children who have disabilities
- Vulnerable people, particularly girls and women
- Those with capacity to help develop their own people and culture.
ROKPA's aim is to improve the quality of life of the poorest peoples around the world irrespective of their religion, nationality or cultural background and to help people to help themselves.
In order to help in the most efficient way possible, ROKPA consciously avoids political activity. Instead, we aim to forge a dialogue with the local authorities with a view to establishing sustainable long-term support measures.
ROKPA's work focuses on countries and regions where providing humanitarian aid is very challenging but desperately needed. We believe it is vital to base our projects on direct requests for help and to respect the cultural values of the people seeking our aid.
